Dad's Authentic Stovetop Movie Popcorn
My family has always loved watching movies at home. My dad always made the best homemade popcorn. I remember he used to have a big bowl of popcorn with a Coke over ice. He had a certain method of making popcorn on the stove that was so delicious. So for my bridal watch party, I asked him to share. Here's Dad's official popcorn recipe:
Ingredients:
1/2 cup Orville Reddenbacher popcorn
3 Tbsp Orville Reddenbacher's Gourmet Popping and Topping Buttery Flavor Popcorn Oil
Salt, to taste
1/2 tsp Butter (Optional)
In a heavy-bottomed large pan, heat oil over medium heat until shimmering. Add popcorn, and immediately put on lid. Swirl constantly to coat unpopped kernels with heated oil while popping. Once sound of kernels popping nearly stops, remove from heat. Do not over-pop to avoid burnt popcorn. Salt to taste and add a pat of butter if desired. Put on lid once more and shake lightly to distribute salt and butter. Serve immediately. Makes 8 cups.
